Madeleine McCann possibly spotted in France, family says

The tourist said she recognized Madeleine from the many media reports about the child's May 3 disappearance and may have even seen the well-publicized defect in the little girl's eye, Mitchell said.

"She and a friend saw a child that they immediately took to be Madeleine," said Mitchell. "They actually called out her name.

"A man who was with the child scooped the child up and took her out of the cafe before the girls could take a photograph with their mobile phones," he said.

Mitchell said there is a surveillance tape of the girl in the L'Arche restaurant and Madeleine's parents are hoping to be able to use it to determine if it is their missing daughter. Mitchell explains how the sighting came about »

But The Associated Press, quoting an unnamed police official, is reporting that investigators have determined it was not the missing child.

Pizza casserole uses spaghetti

Church services were held here yesterday, which is always an event that requires a lot of preparation work. We set up the church benches in our basement for the services. The benches, dishes for meals, and other supplies needed to hold a service are stored in a wagon which goes from place to place – wherever the services are going to be held. Services are usually around three hours long. Afterwards the menfolk set up four tables with every table sitting 16 people. Then the women all pitch in and help get the tables set. It is nice to have most of those dishes we need for lunch stored in containers in the bench wagon. Our menu was coffee, tea, homemade wheat and white bread, bologna, cheese spread, peanut butter spread, dill and sweet pickles, red beets, sweet and hot peppers, butter, homemade jam, and sugar, pumpkin, and butterscotch chip cookies.

Why area fans love Brett Favre

Gary Wrobel of La Crosse admits he has a Packers shrine in his home. Even better, he has season tickets and he will be at Sunday's game. But he figures it will be hard to top last weekend's game."That was just like being in a snow globe. It was warm. I didn't even wear gloves. The excitement was about 10 times more than a regular game."Wrobel came by his season tickets honestly he waited."We put our names (on the list) in 1962. We were on the waiting list until 1990. They sent a letter to me," he said.Wrobel posed for a photo with Favre in 1992. He has an autographed Favre jersey and even met Favre's mom, Bonita, at a tailgate party in 1995.Though Wrobel will give away tickets to loved ones for preseason games, at this time of year he's the one sitting in the stadium at Lambeau Field."I'm 67 years old.

Adriatico gives College Park a taste of exactly what it needs

College Park and Adriatico are a perfect match. This Orlando neighborhood certainly has some good, or good enough, restaurants. But it has been missing a quaint trattoria, the sort of Italian place with a mom-andpop feel, one that's comfortable, homey and immediately familiar. A welcoming spot where the food is good but beside the point.

That's Adriatico.

The "mom and pop" owners are Marco and Rosetta Cudazzo. She runs the dining room, greeting guests with a matronly welcome, and he does the cooking, demonstrating the skills he most recently plied at the estimable Terramia, a multiple Foodie winner, and at Antonio's La Fiamma in Maitland before that.

Hip-Hop Rumors: Joel Ortiz Off Aftermath? Is Bow Wow Crazy? Amy ...

Wow Bow doesn't have to do this. He doesn't. He can still make his name Bow Wow again. The rumor is that he got pissed off at Chris Brown and spit on his R&B counterpart. That's word to Omarion! Anyway apparently at a show in Dallas, Wow Bow ended his set off and accused Brown of messing up his set. How? I'm not sure how. Chris Brown is the headliner of the show, but I don't know what he did. Anyway, Wow Bow had to be restrained and out came the spit. I know this is only a rumor, but I have to ask: IS WOW BOW CRAZY?

Now that I got a good laugh out of that, you should know that Wow Bow has stated on the record that this never happened. Chris Brown hasn't issued any denial.

OBAMA HAS A SHOT!

OK, I know one doesn't have anything to do with the other, but I thought I would say this anyway.

Product Recalls

The U.S. Department of Agriculture on Sunday announced the largest meat recall in history.

The department recalled 143 million pounds of frozen beef from the Southern California slaughterhouse, Westland/Hallmark Meat Co., that provided meat to school lunch programs and fast-food chains after a video surfaced showing cattle being abused and mistreated.

Two major fast-food chains, Jack-In-the-Box and In-N-Out, said they would not use beef from Westland/Hallmark.

The recall affects beef products dating back to February 1, 2006.

Most of the beef has been eaten and officials say it's unlikely the remaining beef is tainted. No illness has been reported, but it wasn't properly inspected and therefore is unfit for human consumption.

The Yummies-in-the-Tummies Team

No action figure will convince a 2-year-old to eat velvety chicken liver mousse on rye with shallot confit and tangerine marmalade. And that's the trouble with Steve McDonagh and Dan Smith's son, a simple fella who digs plain pasta and chicken tenders. And licking plain ketchup off of his finger. But kiddie-faves like pizza and mac and cheese? Eww.

"It's some karma for something that we've done," McDonagh laughs.

"He changes his mind on a daily basis as to what he likes and what he really hates," Smith adds. "He liked hot dogs yesterday. Today, he'll probably hate them."

For simple anti-culinary couples, this would be rough. For McDonagh and Smith, known as "The Hearty Boys" for their foodie-fingers and no-sweat recipes, it's more unfortunate than Britney Spears' VMA performance.
