Delia Smith on How to Cheat at Cooking

Now she is coming back, with a new book, Delia's How to Cheat at Cooking, and a new television series.

Once, it seemed Britain couldn't live without Delia. But where will she fit in now, in the mad celebrity circus that is TV cooking, with Jamie getting pukka in the garden, Nigella licking chocolate lasciviously off her fingers, Gordon haranguing anyone in earshot with streams of expletives? Has Delia been forgotten? Not in Norwich, she hasn't. Delia had first-name recognition before any of them, and the cosy familiarity it implies has evidently stuck. 'Hello, Delia…' Fans lean forward to shake her hand as she passes. 'Excuse me, Delia…' Small children proffer match-day programmes and brandish mobile-phone cameras.

It was her husband, Michael Wynn-Jones, a life-long Norwich fan, who brought Delia to Carrow Road for her first home game in 1969.

IPL auction: how much is too much?

In setting the floor price for spending on a team at $3.3 million, and capping it at $5 million, the IPL has tried to ensure that teams are evenly matched and the big spenders don't walk away with all the goodies.

At one end of the spectrum, people are contemplating whether the $500,000 mark will be breached for an individual player and at the other, it's hard to see just how such numbers are justifiable.

In auction situations, traditionally, an object's value is determined by how badly someone wants it, rather than what it is intrinsically worth. For example, if Vijay Mallya (Bangalore) and Mukesh Ambani (Mumbai) both decide that they simply must have Shane Warne, there's no saying what his price tag could be.

But, and there is already chatter that representatives of different teams are in informal talks about certain players to ensure that the auction doesn't overheat, if companies decide to come together, and stick to what they say, there is no reason why anyone should spend more than the floor price of $3.3 million.

Tiny tater treasures: Chefs take humble tot to the next level

Sheila Devaney of Chapel Hill, N.C., says the vegetarian Tater Tot casserole she learned to make while living in Georgia "is always the first thing gone when you bring it to a potluck at work. But if there's any left, it's even better the next day for breakfast."

Not content with casseroles, a growing subculture of home cooks has begun shredding potatoes and hand-forming their own tots.

Devaney considers such efforts ridiculous, if not anathema to the essential appeal of Tater Tots: their ubiquity.

"Why would you ever make your own?" she gasps in disbelief. "Just go to our friends at Ore-Ida. They can hook you up!

How Gordon Brown undid a year's work in seven fatal days

One is that he planned to fight it on decisiveness and competence.

From my conversations with people at the very highest levels of government, I never got the impression that Mr Brown had ever convinced himself that he should risk the premiership he had waited for so long on an early election. In private conversation, he had been dismissive of the idea in July and remained highly cautious even when his poll ratings went stratospheric. He was clearly trying to destabilise the Tories, though the threat had the opposite effect, rallying them at their conference, muzzling the doubters about David Cameron and galvanising him and George Osborne.

The other reason Gordon Brown had not announced a decision was because, well, he had not made a decision. He is far from alone among politicians - in fact, he is utterly typical - in his reluctance to make decisions before he absolutely has to.

Under the Hood With Knight Rider 2.0: Trans Am vs. Ford Mustang ...

Last week, NBC unveiled an all-new, controversial KITT, which is set to star in the made-for-TV Knight Rider movie in February. Based on the still-to-be-released Ford Mustang Shelby GT500KR (click here for engine-revving video), this virtual Stang comes tricked out with a supercomputer that can hack almost any system; a very capable weapons system; and a body—thanks to nanotechnology—that's able to shape-shift and change color at will. Like its predecessor, the 21st century KITT gets AI from digital effects wizards that makes it an ideal crime-fighting partner: logical, precise and infinitely smart. Designer Harald Belker, who has created the Batmobile for Batman and Robin and a next-gen space shuttle for Armageddon, came onboard to give the new KITT. a unique look. "The goal was to make it look more aggressive without being hokey or garish," Belker says.

Bealls, T-Mobile plan stores in Bluff

Among the expansions and new businesses, I'd like to mention that Real Life Fellowship is opening a campus in the old mini mall next to Funtrackers. When they open it will be the largest church congregation in Flour Bluff. It is a casual dress church with contemporary music. The pastor makes the Bible and it's message come alive and teaches us how to apply God's word to our lives! I would like to invite anyone who is interested to check the church out. The current Corpus campus is located at Staples and Holly Rd. , also in Portland in the movie theater on Sunday mornings, and coming soon to Calallen at the Bay Area Fitness Center!

Long March 3B in 2nd stage mission

China is studying the feasibility of using the Long March 3B carrier rocket for the country's second-stage moon mission of lunar landing, a spokesman for the China National Space Administration said yesterday.

The Long March 3B carrier rocket is from the same family as the Long March 3A on which Chang'e I was launched. It boasts "strong thrust power", Pei Zhaoyu, the spokesman, told a press conference.

Long March 3B is the most powerful carrier rocket developed by China. It can send 5.1 tons of payload into the geosynchronous orbit.

The 3B rockets have successfully launched large satellites, including Mabuhay, ChinaStar-1 and SinoSat-1.

Pei said the next generation Long March 5 rockets, which use pollution-free fuels, will not be ready for launch until after 2012.
