Texas style is very different than southern pulled pork barbecue, though we have added pulled pork to our menu, says Buddy Easterling, restaurant manager. Side dishes for plates of brisket include Book Kickin Beans (hot), Lone Star BBQ Beans (not), hand cut French fries, potato salad, Cole slaw, corn on the cob, bull strings (onion rings) and fried okra. BBQ plates come in cowgirl (small) and cowboy (large) sizes. The main eats section of the menu also offers a Texas Two step, which allows the choice of meats, brisket, sausage, pork or ribs, served with two sides. Then theres the Baby Back Ribs Roundup, in full or half-rack portions; smoked chicken; brisket tacos; brisket wraps; and a Texas sized baked potato. The appetizer, or Tidbits menu, offers Hat Tippin Nachos, quesadillas, Texas Cheese Fries (fresh cut daily); Bull Strings; Mesquite Smoked Chicken Wings and Little Joes Diablos (large smoked shrimp stuffed in a jalapeno).
Wireless Monitoring Of People And Things: Future Of Social Networking?
The project explores the use of radio-frequency identification, or RFID, tags in a social environment. The team has installed some 200 antennas in the Paul Allen Center for Computer Science and Engineering. Early next month researchers will begin recruiting 50 volunteers from about 400 people who regularly use the building. "Our goal is to ask what benefits can we get out of this technology and how can we protect people's privacy at the same time," Balazinska said. "We want to get a handle on the issues that would crop up if these systems become a reality." Many businesses already use RFID tags to track products in the supply chain. Now the tool is moving to other areas. Some transit agencies use radio tags in bus and train passes. The new U.S. passports incorporate RFID tags.

Sniff, swish and spit
More than 450 domestic and international wineries will be at this year's Boston Wine Expo, pouring their latest and greatest wines for connoisseurs and fledgling oenophiles alike. The expo will kick off its 17th year this weekend at the Seaport World Trade Center and Seaport Hotel on Boston's waterfront. According to show director Ed Hurley, it's the largest wine event in the country. The main event on the show floor is the Grand Tasting, where the vineyards are set up in the center ``like a large reception,'' he said. ``For the most part, it's made up of wine tables,'' said Hurley. ``Instead of seeing rows and rows of booths, all of the wineries are all there. They're all grouped by countries. There are ancillary booths with wine products (along the sides).'' Visitors can choose from more than 1,800 different wines from 13 countries.
Cruise lines offer a great culinary adventure
But this travel experience raised this seasonal tradition to a new level. My objective was obvious: to get up and close as possible to the ship’s culinary staff and learn how they provide this incredible culinary experience. Who was the person that organized and managed this culinary service and how was it accomplished? To answer my questions, I visited the ship’s executive chef Peter Hines, or Chef Peter as he prefers, and later took a tour of one of the two main kitchens (galley) that turned out to be a discussion with some of the wait staff rather than gazing at room full of stainless steel furnishings. Chef Peter is from southern Germany and began his culinary journey when he was 14 in his family’s bakery. After completing the traditional German education system, he entered a three-year culinary training curriculum.

Readers respond to changes in Cuba
His own beloved people are jumping on tires and floating to the U.S. hoping to make a better life. What does that tell you about the conditions in Cuba? I hope they overthrow his brother and end this tyrant's rule for good. Anonymous On Fidel Castro's rule: Oh Fidel! You finally step down after years of watching your own citizens (prisoners) leave your island aboard anything that floats to reach the land of your archenemy -- the United States. What a legacy! Congratulations, Old Man! Raul None of us can imagine the pain that Cuban Americans and Cubans (in Cuba) have endured due to the dictatorship of Castro. I can't imagine having spent my life 90 miles from my family but never being able to visit them. Family is the basis of all we have in life.
The Freedmen's Remedy
During the course of my career as a defense lawyer in the military, I've shrugged off many government conspiracy theories. Each time I heard one, I'd smile and say that one should never attribute to a vast government conspiracy acts that can be as readily attributed to mere government incompetence or accident. So, I did not initially assume any concerted plan or purpose behind recent activities at Guantanamo Bay. But the government's latest moves in the ongoing battle over the legality of its detention policies are anything but incompetent, and they've forced me to reassess my initial conclusion: The decision to try six Guantanamo detainees using military commissions is very clearly part of a concerted effort to use the Guantanamo commissions to subvert the goals of justice and to maintain a veil of secrecy around its questionable interrogation policies.
