| Armstrong's Live Well program joining Wellness Community
They like to call themselves "the best-kept secret in Central Jersey." But now that the Lance Armstrong Foundation has found them, that doesn't figure to last much longer. The Wellness Community of Central New Jersey has been there to support cancer patients and survivors since 2004, when the concept first emerged from Eunice Jadlocki's living room to temporary quarters at the Van Horne house in Somerville -- and then to its permanent location at 3 Crossroads Drive in Bedminster in 2005. Since 2004, more than 600 participants have taken advantage of the community's support groups and individualized programs. These include not only those stricken with cancer, but caregivers and family members, too. Now, the nonprofit agency, which is supported entirely by donations, has been selected for the Live Well program funded by the Lance Armstrong Foundation.
Internet deals are a real gift
But what stores have over the internet are specialist sales people ready to answer questions or offer advice, which can be particularly helpful for shoppers who may not understand a product's capability or convoluted technical information. A visit to a home theatre store found a friendly salesman well versed in DVD recorders. But the store's price of $596 for a Panasonic recorder, with built-in hard drive, could not match a web price of $529. The salesman was prepared to trim the price to $570 to do a deal. Our survey found that some products offered on the internet were no longer available in stores. Internet shoppers usually give up their ability to haggle for lower prices. Retailers are generally willing to cut prices, particularly on big-ticket items, to do fast deals.
Saints 0 Plymouth 2 - dismal start for new boss Nigel
Saints started well and Vignal's deep cross from the left found Marek Saganowski at the far post, but he volleyed well wide. The visitors came back and Andrew Davies did well to block Jermaine Easter's cross-cum-shot before the Saints defender headed wide at the other end. Thomas also nodded over as Saints continued to press for the opener, but they suffered a blow after 22 minutes when injury-prone Darren Powell limped off and was replaced by Viafara. The injury disrupted Saints' rhythm and they paid the ultimate price minutes later as Andrew Surman gave the ball away to Nalis, who slid it to Halmosi and the Hungarian slotted home his second goal in two away games. Ex-Saints boss Paul Sturock's side almost doubled their lead immediate as Nalis played the ball into Halmosi again, but this time he shot wide.
Curry chefs in a pickle
He said: "We did try before and they didn't give us permission for a second chef. "I don't know why they do it. Indian restaurants are always short of staff. Language is a problem but most of my staff speak Bengali. We do want to get the staff from India who can cook the food properly and know about the spices. "It's a problem everywhere. I know a few restaurant owners who are struggling to provide authentic cuisine because they don't have a good chef. "They did give us permission a couple of years ago and a lot of people came, but still we need more people." The nationwide issue was sparked by the pressure group the Immigration Advisory Service (IAS) which said the rules restrict people allowed a visa to educated people who can speak English.

Councilman MikeK Recalls Knievel Action Figure
Top: Young MikeK playing with Evel Knievel action figure; bottom: MikeK receives inspiration from his childhood friends before leaving for a Coeur d'Alene City Council meeting. I had a classic Evel Knievel motorcycle riding action figure when I was a kid. The stunts my brothers and I would stage for that motorcycle toy were legendary (riding out a second story window, chasing the dog around the house without getting chewed to ribbons, you name it). RIP Evel. I wonder what happened to Steve Austin, the Six Million Dollar Man who played the role of Evel's arch-nemesis in the boyhood action figure wars?/Councilman MikeK. Question: What was your favorite action figure/doll when you were little? .
Two Salishan Street fires damage property
An unattended cooking stove caused an apartment fire Thursday night in southeast Salem, while hours earlier, a discarded cigarette sparked a fire at a town house just blocks away, fire officials said. The two fires were unrelated and in separate complexes, said Salem Deputy Fire Marshal Chris Riffle. The first fire was reported about 11:15 a.m. at 1529 Salishan St. SE, Riffle said. Firefighters reported fire and smoke from the exterior siding of the two-story townhouse. The fire quickly was extinguished, and it did not extend into the attic or inside the building, Riffle said. Resident David Parkins told firefighters he was talking on the telephone when he smelled smoke coming from around his front door, Riffle said. As he opened the door, he could see fire on the deck, and the smoke alarm inside the home activated.
Lightening the power load with daylight saving
SOUTH Africans are starting the year with the uncomfortable realisation that we will live in a power constrained country for the foreseeable future. Until new generating capacity is up and running in the medium term, we need short-term solutions. One of the policy options on the table is the introduction of daylight saving time. This refers to the practice of setting clocks forward (usually by an hour) in spring, and then setting them back again in autumn. This means everyone gets up an hour “earlier” in summer to make use of early morning sunlight, and then gains an additional hour of daylight after work. Daylight saving could bring several benefits to SA. More daylight for commuters would reduce f road accidents.
